La Feria Latino Family Resource Fair

On Saturday, August 9, 2008 the Latino Family Resource Fair (La Feria) celebrated its 14th year as a recognized and reputable tradition within the Minneapolis community. La Oportunidad and Metropolitan Health Plan, in collaboration with the Midtown Farmers' Market were pleased to once again host this fun and informative event for Latino families living in the Minneapolis community and the greater metropolitan area. In a family-friendly environment, fair-goers gained information about education, health care resources, social services, and more.
2008 represented the fifth consecutive year that the event was held in collaboration with the Midtown Farmers' Market. The Midtown Farmers' Market is a community-supported farmer's market on East Lake Street that features an abundance of fresh and local produce, meats, cheeses, artisan breads and Minnesota-made crafts.
At La Feria this year, special focus was placed on social service resources In addition, fairgoers found free health screenings, information about healthy lifestyles and health insurance, and legal and social service resources. Family entertainment, live music, clowns and children's activities contributed to more than 1,500 people enjoying a fun and information-filled Saturday.
