When asked, "How is peace possible in your life as a result of participating with La Oportunidad?" our clients responded with insights that varied from Katherine, an El Camino program participant who made a new friend, to Lucina, a Padres participant, who said simply that La Oportunidad had helped her become more patient with her family and value them much more. Through an extensive photography project, the stories of La Oportunidad were made visual, putting a face on the peaceful change happening within our programs. Participants from El Camino, the Latino Youth Program, Padres, and LEAP were all asked how they saw peace in their lives, and they responded with both simple ideas of peace and deep reflections of how La Oportunidad had helped them become more peaceful. The photographs, done by Rebecca Pottebaum, were displayed at the 20th Anniversary Celebration and are currently hanging in La Oportunidad's office as a testimony to the impact of the organization's work. Through these reflections shines the theme of the year's celebration, that peace is indeed possible.
